
Player Pathway : Return to Play Progression

Step 1
Player is cleared for RTP progression from clinical physiotherapist
* informed on nature of injury and ( interdisciplinary) management plan
* informed on specific therapeutic exercise or Prehab program to be performed prior to training
* cleared for return to team environment

Step 2
Player is ready to trial team warm up / technical drills to establish ‘ baseline ‘
* controlled duration and intensity to ensure tolerance to increased load
* may perform controlled conditioning after this phase at training ( separate from team )
* once baseline firmly established and is tolerated well can progress
Step 3
Player can progress into small sided drills
* depending on nature / severity of injury either as neutral or non contact role
* duration limited ~ 60” with team
* careful or not involved in higher intensity ( high risk drills ) full field 11 v 11 game play / longer high intensity sprints / shooting or long balls
Progression :
* RTP Testing : Full training as tolerated / Fitness testing
* graduated plan x return to game involvement
